WineZap Names Ten Most Popular Wines in 2009

Oakland, CA (PRWEB) February 7, 2010 -- WineZap.com – an online search engine for wine – has released its list of the top 10 most searched wines in 2009. The data is compiled from over 12 million searches conducted by visitors to www.winezap.com in 2009. The results indicate that even in a recession year wine lovers are still looking for the high end wines. According to Sam Enos, WineZap Manager, “2009 was surprising in how little the list changed even in these tough economic times. The top searched wines are the usual suspects with a few surprises - only 2 of the wines sell for less than $100.”

According to WineZap, the top ten most searched wines for 2009 were:

1. Dom Perignon Champagne - average price: $145/bottle

2. Chateau Margaux – average price: $600/bottle

3. Columbia Crest Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve: $29/bottle

4. Opus One Proprietary Blend: $250/bottle

5. Chateau Haut Brion: $600/bottle

6. Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau: $10/bottle

7. Chateau Petrus: $1000/bottle

8. Chateau D’Yquem: $800/bottle

9. Chateau Lafite Rothschild: $700/bottle

10. Sea Smoke Pinot Noir: $130/bottle

The data was compiled by analyzing the search patterns of visitors to www.winezap.com. WineZap examined the visits of 2.5 million visitors in 2009 who conducted over 12 million searches. The results were limited to users from the United States.
